Frontline Arts is a 48-year-old socially-engaged arts nonprofit, working in papermaking and printmaking. Our specialty is the transformative process of making handmade paper from military uniforms with our flagship program, Frontline Paper. Through public workshops, this handmade paper creates a platform for veterans and non-veterans to come together and share stories, providing a “new language,” and much needed discourse between veterans and society. In casual drop-in sessions, on college campuses, in community centers, at pop-up street corner workshops, and at VA and military hospitals, Frontline Paper artists teach the art of papermaking and printmaking to veterans of all service eras. We have also adapted this model to the Scrubs Paper project, using healthcare workers' scrubs and garments since the beginning of the pandemic, and the Migration Project, working with immigrant communities across NY and NJ. Across all of our programs, we use craft to discover commonalities and accept differences between communities, to help foster social bonds and promote positive change.
Located in Bedminster, The Center for Contemporary Art strives to provide a vibrant, contemporary cultural center through arts education, exhibitions and community partnership that will inspire creativity and enhance people’s lives. The Center’s galleries feature renowned and up and coming regional and international artists in exhibitions that rotate every 8 weeks. Classes, workshops, and seminars support creative development for artists of all ages, in all visual media. Community partnerships help bring the arts to Veterans, people affected by cancer, folks in addiction recovery, youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and others for whom the arts might not be immediately accessible. At the Fall Festival, The Center will be showcasing its ceramics program and inviting attendees to participate in a giant community built coil pot!
